What is Macaron Day?
Macaron Day is a tradition that started in Paris in 2005 and later spread in the world. It is a world wide celebration of the world famous macaron.

In 2010, François Payard, chef and owner of François Chocolate Bar and François Payard Bakery in New York, organized the first annual Macaron Day in NYC. Macaron Day NYC is inspired by and coincides annually with the Jour du Macaron in Paris, created by la Maison Pierre Hermé Paris in association with the Relais Desserts. The Macaron Day will be celebrated around the world on March 20 every year.

The concept of Macaron Day
Patisseries in the city give macaron lovers a free macaron when they come in and mention Macaron Day and some percent of all additional macaron sales is donated to a local charity.
Why is the world a better place on Macaron Day?
Macaron day is not only about macarons, but about local charity too!
At many participating locations, a portion of the day’s macaron sales will be donated to local charity organizations, like City-Harvest in New York City or in Toronto 25 percent of all additional macaron purchased on this day will be donated to the Red Door Family Shelter.
